Lifetime risk is 25%: Inguinal hernias are more common in men than women, due to the descent of the testicles from inside the abdomen to the scrotum. A bulge in the area on either side of your pubic bone is a typical physical finding, while burning or aching sensation at the bulge, especially when bending over, coughing or lifting is a common symptom. See your physician for confirmation by examination
