Slapping is abuse: Slapping on the face is not the same as spanking. It is abuse. Neither has been shown to have long term benefits to child development, and even spanking can be harmful and abusive. Time out and other forms of privilege removal are proven effective and beneficial means to train a child. Positive reinforcement and rewarding good behavior is also an essential parenting technique.
