Variable: A tale-tale characteristic for abuse is that the injury pattern does not correspond to the story given.Simple skull x-rays, a ct scan or an MRI can verify injury, but the injury may be accidental. When the abuse question arises it is often necessary to do other x-rays and admit the patient until more information is available, even if the injury appears minor.
