Several possibilitie: this is going around. irritation of the external ear certainly could, but direct viral irritation of deep structures is going around and there's very little to treat it. Can also be a bacterial infection of hte eustachion tubes, BUT would have symptoms of ears being very stuffy/plugged in that situation.

Eustachian tube: It could be that you are having Eustachian tube dysfunction. This tube drains fluid from the middle ear and when it is blocked it can cause ear pressure and pain. I suggest that you see an ENT physician for evaluation of your ear pain.
