Tendon issue: It sounds like you have a tendon or cartilage problem in your thumb. It is good that there is no pain or swelling. If the problem persists you may need to see a hand surgeon for evaluation, splinting or other treatments.

Clicking thumb: Maybe tendon/synovia irritation as move thru pulley in finger-Trigger thumb. May be underlying arthritis.May consider NSAIDs if not allergic or no gastritis, warm soaks, splints, iontophoreiphoresis (topical steroids) if does not resolve may need local steroid injection. If you can not move your thumb or make a fist seek medical attention today, may be subluxation. F/U with doctor urgent care
