Lump: A lump on the back of the hand, unrelated to injury, raises the possibilities of an insect bite or a cyst but the latter usually wouldn't pop up immediately. Since there is tenderness and some redness, I recommend that a physician examine you for diagnosis and treatment because of presence of possible infection.
