Not recommended: You must treat the source of the infection, not only the symptoms. Therefore, you need to clean out the inside of the tooth to remove the bacteria which is the source of the infection. The antibiotics cannot reach the source of the infection. Ask your dentist for more information.

Amoxicillin: I am not sure what Half a root canal is? If you have an infected tooth that required antibiotic coverage, the entire root canal needs to be cleaned out to remove the source of the infection. Otherwise an antibiotic, like Amoxicillin, would only relieve possible swelling, but would not cure the infection. Only a completely done root canal would address the removal of the cause..

Vague Question: Not really sure what 1/2 root canal is. If that means it is unfinished, you need to have it completed and the tooth properly restored. Please call your dentist for an appointment.
