Either: Pen vk and amox work very well for dental infections. If there is an allergy, Clindamycin is the drug of choice. Clindamycin is a broader spectrum antibiotic and should only be used if the cillins don't work or if there is an allergy.

Ask your dentist: The dentist who is treating the root canal infection will use their best judgement as to which antibiotic to prescribe.

Either: Both can cause stomach distress, and each has indications and contraindications. Clindamycin is a great root canal antibiotic but has more stomach aftereffects than Amoxicillin and is used for those patient allergic to amoxicillin.

No differance: There is no such thing as "best" or "worst" medication, only those that work and don't work, based on the patient's individual circumstances and needs. Usually clindamycin is used in place of amoxicillin in at-risk patients who are allergic to penicillin.

Antibiotic: The other answered given to this questionnaire quite accurate. Note that you should not be self medicating. Antibiotics that are "left over" because you did not finish a previous course of antibiotic therapy may be outdated, wrong dose, not enough pills to resolve current infection. Ask your treating Dentist or Root Canal Specialist (Endodontist) for best antibiotic coverage for you.
