Fever cough: If you have not already, you should take this child to be seen as what you describe sounds like it could be an infection in the lungs or some other respiratory illness. Hope he gets well soon.

Viral infection: Intermittent cough, worse at night, is suggestive of allergies and asthma. However, fever is present with infection, most of which are viral. Increased respiratory rate is present with both asthma and lung infections.
