A member asked:

Vomiting and have slight elevated wbc. er dr said viral gastroenteritis. can virus raise wbc? should i be worried?!! other blood work was normal.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Viral infections: Slight elevations of WBC may occur with viral infections, but my also be falsely elevated due to dehydration from vomiting, or slightly high because of epinephrine and steroid release from the stimuli released during your physical illness. Would not worry as long as this clears up quickly. Wish you better soon.
