Not really.: There is little evidence that Trazodone helps in facial neuralgia. Other antidepressants have also been used such as Amitriptyline, Nortriptyline and Vivactil (protriptyline) with varying success. Other drugs such as anticonvulsants have been used such as Tergretol.

Unlikely, but: Literature search shows minimal results. But if there is a depressive component, it might help. It your Doc wants to try it, no harm in trying. Make sure your diagnosis is correct with an evaluation by ENT and /or orofacial-TMJ specialist.
