Anti-depression: Amitriptyline is a treatment for depression and should be tried for a few weeks so it has a chance to work. If you don't like the effects, stop using it and go see your ischia trust to get another anti-anxiety drug, there are many kinds !!

It depends: It depends on what the doctor is treating and what other meds you are taking. Since amitriptyline is a member of the class of drugs known as tricyclic antidepressants, that is one of the less likely side-effects. Discuss it with your doctor. Good luck.

Don't be scared: Amitriptyline is classically an antidepressant, and is unlikely to cause depression. 25 mg is a low dose. Doses used to treat depression usually range 150 - 300 mg. Amitriptyline 25 mg is commonly prescribed to promote sleep, for prevention of migraine, as an adjunct for pain medication, or for peripheral neuropathy. There is no harm is trying a 1/2 dose to begin with.
