What will happen to a patient with an icd if he was shocked by an aed?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

ICD: If an ICD patient had a shockable arrhythmia and the ICD didn't fire or fired and didn't convert the rhythm, its not likely the AED if fired would cause a problem. If an AED were applied to a patient with an ICD and an inappropriate shock was delivered by the device after it was activated by someone, it is possible that the ICD could be damaged. Other possibilities also exist..
