A member asked:

What is fludrocortisone prescribed for?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Salt and fluid: Fludrocortisone is similar to the adrenal hormone aldosterone, and causes you to retain sodium and water from the kidney. If you have Addison's (adrenal failure), you may need some fludrocort in addition to hydrocortisone. It is also used in some settings to raise your blood pressure in people with low BP, for example from diabetic autonomic neuropathy.
