A member asked:

Does finasteride control post turp small clots?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: Finasteride is a 5 alpha reductase inhibitor, which blocks conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT). This will lead to a slow, gradual decrease in the size of the prostate but can take up to 6 months to occur. Small clots can occur after a TURP via small venous sinuses at the prostatic capsular level. The bleeding should resolve with hydration but talk to urologist if continues.
