TURP: The continuing retention may be due loss of muscle tone of the bladder. This can be evaluated with urodynamic testing. Patient should have a repeat cystoscopy to make sure that the bladder outlet is still open. Neurogenic bladder is a possibility in the presence of diabetes. If retention is symptomatic, the solution would be clean intermittent catheterization to decrease symptoms of frequency.

Repeat: Hi,There must be residual tissue that needs to be resected. In other words another TURP.If there is no residual tissue(this can be determined by cystoscopy)a condition called neurogenic bladder(basically paralysed bladder muscle:there are many causes for this)is possible. Most likely residual tissue. All this is unusual at age 43.Has dr. mentioned medication for the enlarged prostate?Best wishes.
