Oral anti fungal : Ringworm of the scalp is not effectively treated with shampoos or topical medications. Oral medications are usually required for several weeks.

See the Dr.: Ringworm (which actually is caused by a fungus, not a worm) is not just in the skin of the scalp. It's also in the hair follicle (or root). As a result, antifungal creams won't get rid of it completely -- it might look better but will worsen when the cream is stopped. You'll need to take your child to the Dr. for testing and (if tests are positive) for treatment by mouth for several weeks.

Anti fungal: Using Selsom Blue 2-3 times a week helps. If the area of fugus is large an anti fundal medicine be mouth, such as Griseofulvin or Ketoconazole. There is also Ketoconazole shampoo. This treatment can take up to several months. All the best.
