On web md it says that depression is a rare side effect of lipitor (atorvastatin). i dont take depression med anymore.but got depressed after a month on lipitor (atorvastatin).

Prob. unrelated: Hi. Listing side effects is required based on what is complained of in clinical trials and post-marketing surveillance. You already had depression in your past. There is no known mechanism for Lipitor (atorvastatin) to cause depression. So cause-and-effect relationship, while not impossible, is very unlikely. Keep it in perspective...it's probably more depressing to have a heart attack. Maybe go back on anti-dep
