Possibly viral infxn: Try saltwater gargle, honey, and throat lozenges. Stay well hydrated and see if things get better over the next week. If things don't get better, see your doctor.

Cough: Thymus? no. You mean Thyroid? big difference. Also no. You have not provided any information about yourself such as medical history. Why were you given prednisone and inhaler for "sore throat"? Did you have asthma, bronchitis or pneumonia? was your throat cultured for proper antibiotic coverage? You may benefit from consulting an ENT if your doctor has not been able to clear your throat problems.
