Probably should not: You probably should let it heal well. Skiing can be tough on the ankle and you do not really want to injure and injured ankle.

What matters most?: What matters most to you? Basic principles: if the original injury was a simple twist, with no fracture or truly major sprain, you're in no real danger. Heavy use may slow healing a bit. But a ski boot provides excellent support. Ankle is better protected than with activities like tennis or basketball. If you love skiing, and don't mind it being a bit sore, there's little risk. Hope this helps!
