My 7 year old son broke his lower leg (tibia / fibia fracture) skiing 4 mo's ago and has recovered. but he has yet to gain his full mobility. should he do physical therapy? he's a pretty active boy

Disuse atrophy: While he was in a cast his muscles weakened because of disuse. Physical therapy is an excellent idea for him to restore his muscles.

Yes ,it helps: 7 yr old will recover fast , heal fast , can gain strength and movements on his own , . Physical therapy , will make recovery fast, will recognize weak group of muscles, any nerve entrapment will recognize & corrects it and prevent complications, speak to his ortho .Surgeon.

Yes: Most children his age will regain full motion and strength after this type of fracture. If he has not done so by this point, a course of physical therapy can be very helpful. He should also be seen by his orthopaedic surgeon to examine his leg and the surrounding joints as well as repeat xrays to assess healing issues that may be affecting his current motion.
