Abreva: This is an over-the-counter cream that you start using as soon as you feel the outbreak coming on. It is supposed to interrupt the viruses attachment to cells and thus prevent the outbreak. If that doesn't work after 24 hours then go to an urgent care or your doctor for the prescription pills to stop the outbreak.
