Not likely: A pulmonary embolism can feel just like a heart attack in many ways - chest pressure or pain, difficulty breathing or increased shortness of breath with mild exertion, often precipitated by a clot in the lower extremities. A lot of things can cause palpitations, but a P.E. Is not the top of the list. I would recommend seeing your doctor - possibly getting an electrocardiogram.

Maybe: palpitations or irregular heart rhythm may be associated with PE but are also associated with may other things , many of which are benign. Usually there is some other symptom such as chest pain, sweating, shortness of breath or air hunger. A PE is unusual in a young active person who has not had trauma or surgery
