How does gabapentin compare to glutamate-blockers like budipin, lamictal, remacemide and memantime? is gabapentin a weaker glutamate-blocker?

Be more specific: The drugs you name are quite different from Gabapentin which is NOT prescribed for the conditions the other drugs are used for. Ask your question with more information. Are you bipolar?? Do you have chronic pain???? Hope this helps Dr Z

Not glut blocker: Gabapentin is used as both an anticonvulsant & chronic pain medication. It's mechanism of action is not entirely known. It was synthesized to mimic the chemical structure of the neurotransmitter GABA. It may also act through calcium channels. The other drugs drugs you mention are largely used in treating Parkinson's or Alzheimer's disease. They would not seem comparable in use or action.
