Whenever i fall asleep, i start to realize that i'm sleeping after about an hour and then i wake myself up... how can i stop this?

Sleep hygeine: 1.) Make sleeping area conducive to rest by keeping it dark and quiet. 2.) Allow time for 6-8 hrs of sleep 3,) Pattern sleep, Go to bed and wake up at the same time daily. 4.) Put away gadgets. No TV, games, reading HealthTap at bedtime 5.) No exercise/ food within two hrs of sleep. 6.) Avoid alcohol before bedtime. Alcohol also takes away slow-wave sleep," left with nightmares/fragmented sleep

Several thoughts: Early awakening can be due to various causes, the most common of which is depression. If feeling sad or depressed get help from your physician. Depression is treated with medication and/or counseling. The most effective counseling seems to be Cognitive Behavioral Therapy(CBT). There are apps for your smart phone to learn CBT.
