Alcohol : Alcohol is a depressant. It causes significant sleep disturbance. Drinking to the point of passing out represents alcoholism. As you describe it your body is not tolerating this drug very well and you may have a better life sober. But, sleep gets all messed up when one drinks heavily. It can even be a problem with limited amounts of alcohol. How about trying 30 days alcohol free?

Alcohol at Night: That's exactly what happens with alcohol - it's not for sleep. If this is your only problem with sleep then it's easy to solve it. If you have other sleep problems First please get a complete physical exam from a Medical Dr. to find out if there is an underlying medical illness. If not, then it would be good to consult with a Clinical Psychologist to learn the reason for your anxiety and get help.
