Pain: It sounds as if it is muscle -skeletal. I would try an anti-inflammatory such as Aleeve 400mg daily with food for a week. If it does not go away see a doctor

Pinched nerve: This appears to be a pinched nerve which causes a sharp,shooting pain on certain motions. The impingement would affect an intercostal nerve which runs between two ribs. Another possibility would be inflammation or strain of rib cage muscles. If NSAIDS like ibuprofen don't resolve it, see your physician for evaluation and treatment. If needed, xrays can be ordered.

Hard to say: Without a proper history and exam, could be muscle, bone, lung, heart related. Suggest a check up by your doctor or if worsening, severe pain to the emergency room.
