Back pain: Severe back pain such as your describing can often be muscle spasms. If you notice a connection between the symptoms and your menses, it is due to changes that your hormones can have on your muscles. Stretching helps a lot. Warm compresses and using some advil or aleve (naproxen) is also good. Talk to your doctor about getting a small amount of a muscle relaxer for these times.

Back pain: If you had no trauma, no recent lifting, no extra exercise, nothing pressing / crushing your back, no associated rash, no abdominal pain, no vomiting /diarrhea, no fever & no urinary problems... muscle strain could be source of your back pain. However - best thing to do is be examined - go see your doctor right away. Good luck
