Yes: Lexapro (escitalopram) or any of the SSRI's may initially cause you to feel more anxious before your symptoms start improving. In other words, you might feel a little bit worse before you feel better. I would encourage you to try to ride it out as it is really an outstanding medication. It probably has the gentlest side effect profile of the SSRI's. If symptoms are too severe, ask your doctor about decreasing >

It can "rev" you up: Any of the SSRIs can have paradoxical effect of revving people up or "wiring them."sometimes those effects will wear off within a few days to a week and sometimes they don't wear off and sometimes they get worse. If you are uncomfortable I think a call to your doctor is a good idea.
