Trauma to ear?: Did you hurt your ear by sleeping on it, using same ear for phone, or any kind of trauma? Swimming pools? Perhaps you should let a physician look at your ear to see if anything is wrong.

Ear infection: If the flap of cartilage sitting right outside the ear hole (its called the tragus) is pushed in towards the ear canal is tender, it may be consistent with an inner ear infection (otitis media). If pulling the top of the ear up and out from the head results in pain this may be consistent with an outer ear infection (otitis externa). Either may require antibiotics for resolution; see your doctor

Raj: do you grind your teeth when you are asleep or do you clench your jaw very tight and often if you do go see your dentist as you may have TMJ dysfunction that is Temporomandibular joint or the jaw joint you can take Motrin for pain relief and apply ice packs to reduce the pain also ask your dentist for a mouth guard if you are a teeth grinder if none apply go see your physician
