Need evaluation: Any new onset headache in a child needs to be evaluated with a careful history and physical exam with your physician. The overall course is not alarming to me as they are infrequent and not progressive in frequency. They do seem severe from your description, however. Do they resolve with sleep? Are they triggered by anything in particular? Does he vomit with headaches? Does he wake up with one?
