See your MD: Your pain should not be getting worse after 6 weeks, in fact most strains/sprains are already close to better by 6 wks. Be careful with painkillers - it may numb the pain and allow you to exert yourself more than you should, causing the injury to take longer to heal. Common problem with athletes who want to get back to training too soon, but the FIRST step is getting an accurate DIAGNOSIS!

Sciatica?: Female with 6 wks of escalating constant hip region pain (? sciatica) requires opiates. Absent significant mechanical injury, imaging studies probably not fruitful. Osteopath best doctor to diagnose; with hands-on evaluation. A likely etiology is sprain of sacroiliac joint (SIJ), which might be amenable to manipulation and/or cortisone joint injection. Heavy lifting w. torsion can strain the SIJ.
