Breathing: Treating the strep may not have improved the breathing. You may have associated wheezing or asthma. Return for another assessment. All the best.

More likely viral: Strep usually does not cause flu-like symptoms or worsen asthma, and thus I suspect that a viral infection is exacerbating your asthma. You need to check with your doctor again re. getting you on a controller drug (inhaled steroid) and even a short course of oral steroid if the asthma is getting more severe. The Strep infection has nothing to do with your asthma even if it is present.
