Multiple causes: fluid in your middle ear fluid or wax in your ear canal arthritis or inflammation in your TMJ which can transmit noise to your ear when chewing See your provider to look in your ear and check your TMJs

Depends: Does the popping occur when you open or close (or both) your jaw? Has this happened before, trauma, etc. A thorough history and examination are needed, whether it is an ear problem, tmj/tmd or a combination of both.
