Is a concern: Kidney disease is not based on a single test. You would need to discuss with your health care provider and determine the exact reason for the elevated result. Once you determine the cause then is easier to determine the prognosis and treatment

GFR: Elevations in creatinine can be due to several issues...and the one you started with is the first...renal insufficiency. Dehydration and fluid over load can also change your body's creatinine. Its important to look at the eGFR as well. If this is elevated as well..you may be looking at chronic kidney disease stage 2-3. You should see a nephrologist.

Not necessarily.: If you are healthy, this lab finding might be unexpected. However, it doesn't mean that you have intrinsic kidney disease. There are factors other than the kidney which could raise serum creatinine including dehydration, liver disease, heart disease, urinary tract obstruction, muscle breakdown. Certain antibiotics and blood pressure medications can elevate it. I would go to your PCP and repeat it
