Pre-renal.: A minimal elevation of ones BUN and/or creatinine often is noted in one taking a diuretic such as hctz (hydrochlorothiazide). It is termed a "pre-renal" abnormality as opposed to renal...Meaning it is due to the medication, not a problem with the kidney. There are other tests of kidney function that need to be checked to determine ones kidney status, such as a urinalysis and other tests when an abnormality is found.

Observation: Your bun/creatinine ratio is minimally elevated. The hydrochlorothiazide itself makes you urinate more, this can lead to slight dehydration and the results in the ratio above, make sure you are adequately hydrated and the ratio doesn't increase by rechecking every 3-6 months until it is normal.
