I have bronchitis & was given zithromax, is this safe to take while breastfeeding?

Probably: Its probably safe, so if your MD feels you need the antibiotics, you can take them and continue breastfeeding.

Should be ok: Azithromycin is excreted in small amounts in the breast milk. Decreased appetite, diarrhea, and rash have been reported in nursing infants (rare). The estimated exposure is less than 5% of a therapeutic dose for an infant.

Yes: General rule: If it is safely given to baby at any age you can take it during breastfeeding. This is true for zithromax. Rule 2, meds/lotions you put on your skin are not absorbed enough to bother baby.
