Concerned because my son was sick and put on zithromax and prednisone for what they thought was bronchitis. found out he actually had covid. can the prednisone slow his viral clearance! i am concerned this could hurt his recovery by suppressing immun?

This combination of meds was/is an early treatment that assisted patients in the first wave of the pandemic. The method of action was not clear but the dosing of prednisone for a brief course did not disable the immune system and did mute the inflammatory response that made so many patients sicker. Please discuss your concerns with his doc, but I do not find this rx a problem.
