Follow directions: Patients should follow directions carefully when wearing rubber bands. Following the directions by your dentist or orthodontist will provide the optimal results.

Only: Only if you want to get out of braces sooner. If you're not wearing elastics they are not moving teeth. Elastics should be removed only for cleaning, and then immediately replaced.

Elastics/Rubber Band: I normally instruct my patients to remove the elastics when eating. They can get in the way of enjoying a meal. However, sometimes, patients have no issues with the elastics and eating. It is mostly up to you, however I PERSONALLY recommend my patients to take them out for meals.
