Braces: Overall, people with braces should avoid hard, chewy, crunchy, and sticky foods. Avoiding foods you like may not be fun, but eating things that you're not supposed to eat can cause broken wires or brackets. Avoid caramel and gooey chocolate bars, very sticky or chunky peanut butter, hard candies, nuts, chewy candy, taffy, and gummy bears, popcorn, gum. Soft foods are ok, like soup, apple sauce, etc.

See your ortho: They'll give you a list of non-no foods. Basicly nothing sticky and no chewing ice or pencils, etc. Nothing too hard.

Eat With Braces: I always defer to the treating orthodontist. However, in my office, I suggest staying away from hard, sticky, chewey, and crunchy food along with carbinated beverages. The hard/sticky/chewy/crunchy foods can cause the braces to break off the teeth. Everything else is normally fine. My office give out a comprehenive "food list" to all our patients.
