A member asked:

What kind of follow up is needed after a urinary tract infection?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Repeat urine test: After a UTI, it is always a good idea to check another urine sample after treatment to ensure that there is no evidence of continued infection. If you have had recurrent infections then a more detailed examination including imaging of the kidneys to rule out anatomic abnormalities, a cystoscopy to assess the bladder and urethra, and ultrasound of the bladder to ensure emptying may be done.
