varies: That's a tough question to answer because everyone is different. An untreated UTI can ascend the ureters and involved the kidneys (pyelonephritis). This untreated can lead to sepsis (infection spread into blood). Timing can depend on many things such as anatomy, organisms involved as well as time that antibiotics are initiated.
