UTI: You should never have a UTI "for life." if you feel you have a urinary tract infection you need to see your doctor to get treatment. Untreated uti's can ascend and infect the kidney. It is more common for females to get utis and it is uncommon for males to get uti's. Any person with a UTI should see their doctor immediately.

Very unlikely: Recurrent uti's occur but a permanent UTI is very unlikely. Other diseases can mimic a UTI such as interstitial cystitis, polycystic kidney disease, lithium toxicity, sarcoidosis, & bladder cancer. Patients with prior surgery, retained surgical material, stents, kidney stones or abscess may require long term antibiotics for treatment & suppression. A specialist can sort out these problems.

Possible: You would have a UTI for life in the presence of an infected kidney or bladder stone, or a fistula between large bowel and bladder unless the stone/s are removed or the fistula is repaired.
