Unsure: In the past, the test was used to diagnose autoimmune diseases such as Lupus or Rheumatoid arthritis, but has largely been abandoned due to problems with the test. DNA is a double stranded (ds) molecule and anti-dsDNA is a marker for Lupus activity. However, IgG antibodies binding to single strand (ss) DNA occur in a high percentage of people without autoimmune disease.
