A member asked:

Blood or prick test for food intolerance?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Neither: No allergy antibodies in food intolerance. That's what we're looking for with blood and skin testing. So testing can rule-out food allergy in a case of food intolerance. The history and physical examination is usually sufficient to make a diagnosis of food intolerance. If testing is recommended skin testing is much less expensive and perhaps a little more sensitive than blood testing.
