2 different things: Lactose intolerance is due to inability or decreased ability to digest milk sugar also called lactose. Allergy tests to milk indicate the presence or absence of ige to milk protein. In other words, allergy tests show if you have an allergy or sensitivity to milk protein and have nothing to do with lactose or milk sugar. You can be lactose intolerant and allergic to milk at the same time.
