A member asked:

I was diagnosed with a umbilical hernia. what's the recovery time after surgery?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends: It depends on your medical history, physical exam, size of hernia, and technique of repair. For most of my hernia patients, I tell them to return to normal activity as tolerated by pain and discomfort. Typical recovery times range from a few days for "simple" cases, to a several weeks for larger hernias and more complex clinical scenarios.
