Stable weight: Liposuction removes disproportionate fat up to about 10 pounds. If you have more fat than that, the results will be less than ideal. If you are close to you ideal weight, liposuction can clean-up the extra fat very effectively. If you gain weight after liposuction, the fat has to go somewhere. It may come back in the same place, or someplace entirely new.

Depends: Depends on your goals. Being close to your ideal weight will get you a much nicer result. Lipo can help give you a push if you're "stuck" in your weight loss, not seeing results and getting discouraged. Stable weight (or more loss) is important, as weight gain after your procedure will decrease your results. If you're overweight you increase your risk of needing to going back for a touch up.
