Hemachromatosis has been ruled out but my iron is 172, ferritin 144, tibc 293, uibc 121, iron saturation 59. what else could explain these numbers?

Did you have DNA ?: By definition, a positive screen for hemochromatosis is % iron saturation at or above 45. The next screen is ferritin. If 300 or above in men, or 200 and above in women, genetic testing is indicated to confirm hemochromatosis. Phlebotomies are done to bring the ferritin to 50 or below if diagnosed. People who ar homozygous may never develop the disease. Genetic counseling is indicated.
