Not common: In boys, posterior urethral valves, can predispose young infants to urinary tract infections which may cause a strong smell in the urine. This does not happen frequently, however. There may be other factors at play as well. If your baby isn't getting enough fluid, she can be dehydrated which can cause a strong smell to the urine. You should follow up with your doctor to have it checked out
